CommentAssist for apps · Setup

Connect App Store Connect in about two minutes

Apple doesn't offer a one-click “allow access” for reviews, so CommentAssist uses an App Store Connect API key. You create it once and choose exactly what it can do. With the Customer Support role it can read reviews and reply to them, and nothing else.

  1. Open the API keys page

Go to App Store Connect → Users and Access → Integrations and choose Team Keys. You need to be the Account Holder or an Admin. If you aren't, send this page to whoever is.

  2. First time only: request access

If you see Request Access instead of a key list, the Account Holder clicks it and accepts the terms. Access is usually granted right away.

  3. Generate a key with the Customer Support role

Click +, name it CommentAssist, set Access to Customer Support, then Generate. That role can read reviews and reply to them. It can't change your apps, builds, prices or users.

  4. Download the key file

Click Download next to the new key to get AuthKey_XXXXXXXXXX.p8. Apple lets you download it only once, so keep it until you've connected. If you lose it, revoke the key and make a new one.

  5. Copy the Issuer ID

It's above the key list, labelled Issuer ID, with a Copy link. It looks like 69a6de7e-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx. It's the same for every key on your team.

  6. Paste it here and drop in the file

The Key ID fills itself in from the file name. We check the key with Apple before saving it, then store it encrypted. You pick which apps to watch next.

Something went wrong?
Apple rejected the key
Usually the Issuer ID and Key ID are swapped: the Issuer ID is the long one with dashes, the Key ID is 10 characters. Also check the key is not revoked.
Replies fail to post
The key needs the Customer Support, App Manager or Admin role. Keys with other roles can't reply. Make a new key with Customer Support and connect that one.
I want to stop
Disconnect here, then revoke the key on the same Team Keys page. Revoking takes effect immediately.

Have the key file and Issuer ID? Paste them in Settings → Connections. New here? Start with the App Store plan.
